Sports & Remedial Massage

Sports Massage is a term, used to describe a method of massage that isn't traditionally a spa relaxation treatment. Remedial Massage, implies that we are aiming to remedy and problem. In most cases, this entails a focus on muscles with massage, if they are in need or more time to be in balance with it's muscle group.

The therapist may work, if it is safe to do so, using deep tissue massage techniques to more provide blood flow to the local area. This helps to  bring about a positive change in the condition of the muscles and the soft tissues surrounding and connecting them.

This helps with muscle tension and discomfort, not just brought about by sports training, but any activity or, when we just ease up naturally, due to our posture and daily movement patterns.

It does not have to been a painful experience, if the therapist is experienced and can apply the deeper techniques gradually. However, as a therapist, we sometimes find, sore or tender points and work on these if it is within the client's comfort threshold, to aid better movement and functioning.
